Position: Purchasing Manager
Reports To: General Manager
Summary: The Purchasing Manager will oversee and direct the activities of the purchasing department, and inventory system utilizing current ERP and participate in the implementation of SAP
General Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drafts, explains, and implements instructions, policies, and procedures for purchasing and contract management.
- Evaluates and approves conditions for issuing and awarding bids.
- Develop new supply sources where current suppliers are inadequate.
- Assesses current material availability; predicts future availability based on the market, delivery systems, and other
variables. - Prepares and presents market conditions and merchandise cost reports.
- Run purchasing schedule and purchase required materials to complete work orders in a timely fashion.
- Resolve material variance discrepancies with production leaders.
- Acts as the company’s representative in negotiations with suppliers.
- Coordinates removal or disposal of surplus materials.
- Administers the departmental budget.
- Involved in the direction of quality and inventory control of raw materials.
- Develop and implement continuous improvement processes.
- Excellent attention to detail; flexible in job assignment and adaptable to changing business needs.
- Maintain a safe, healthy work environment, follow company policies and procedures, and meet physical/mental
demands. - Perform cross functional duties when needed (i.e. helping to back up other staff members when out of the office).
- Train others as needed.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions:
- Ability to utilize the company’s ERP (MAX Dynamics) software and transition to SAP to perform a variety of functions including but not limited to purchase orders and inventory control.
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Exceptional negotiation, organizational and communication skills.
